Osh State Medical University was granted university status on June 17, 1992, through a Presidential Decree of the Kyrgyz Republic. Built on the strong foundation of the Osh Pedagogical Institute (1939) and later the Osh State Pedagogical Institute (1951), the university has grown into a leading center of medical education in southern Kyrgyzstan.

Initially established to address the shortage of educators, the institute offered a 2-year program in subjects such as History, Philology, Physics, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Geography. Courses offered by Osh State Medical University

Courses offered at Osh State Medical University include a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs designed to meet international standards. The Undergraduate Program at the International Medical School Faculty offers General Medicine (M.D) with a duration of 5 years. Students must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate to be eligible. In addition, the Undergraduate Program at the Medical Faculty includes General Medicine (M.D) with a duration of 6 years in the Russian medium. The Doctor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program is offered for 5 years in Russian, while Pediatrics (M.D) is a 6-year program available only for CIS students. Eligibility for these programs requires completion of the Higher Secondary School Certificate.

Admission Process for First-Year Applicants:

To begin the admission process at Osh State Medical University in its diverse medical faculties, prospective first-year students must submit the following scanned documents to the university admission office (Rus Edutech):

Scanned copy of the front and back content pages of the passport
Scanned copy of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (12th/FSC)
A completely filled application form

Upon receiving these documents, the university proceeds to apply for a student category e-visa through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
